Our Curriculum & Programs

Our international team of experts has created a comprehensive pedagogy, known as the Kido Early Years Program. This innovative system incorporates the best practices from teaching philosophies from around the world, such as Montessori, Reggio Emilia and the theory of Multiple Intelligences. The result is a play-based learning experience that combines child and teacher-led activities with free and structured play in inspirational settings. The program is customised to the developmental ability of each child. Our program adheres to the EYFS and incorporates proprietary STEM, Art, Literacy and Numeracy programs.

Who we teach

Our nursery program is split into six levels. While each level roughly corresponds to an age group, in practice, we usually move children to the next level when we feel they are ready.

How we teach

Weeks in Kido are divided into Skills Days and Explorer Days. Throughout the program, we integrate project-based learning, and thinking-based learning into our approach.

Skills Days

Skills Days provide children with an opportunity to delve into specific topics, i.e., literacy, maths, STEM, arts and crafts, knowledge and understanding of the world and many more, through station-based focus activities.

explorerday

Explorer Days

Children tackle child and adult-led projects, problem, and enquiry-based learning programs, which integrate the knowledge they learn during the Skills Days in a cross-curricular manner. Over the weeks of each cycle, children will develop a project through arts and crafts, math, science, literacy, or music-related activities.

What we teach

Find out what your little ones will learn at our schools. The majority of our learning centers utilize KEYS, our proprietary curriculum.

A fun and engaging way to learn about maths

  • We introduce children to mathematical concepts early on and revisit these concepts repeatedly through their levels. As children grow and develop, these concepts become more precise and abstract.

  • Children enjoy math challenges and games designed to keep them engaged and motivated.

  • The challenges gradually become more and more complex as the children progress.

  • Our activities make children apply math to everyday life. Concepts are never taught in isolation; we always connect them to children’s existing knowledge and make them relevant by associating them with practical, real-life applications and use.

We encourage healthy, happy students through K-Gym

  • We provide a range of fun, structured activities coordinated by our staff or a guest specialist.
  • Our physical development program targets the holistic development of children and includes elements of mindfulness, yoga with a purpose, brain gym, and more.

  • Children develop their motor skills, coordination, balance, and more through the physical development program and develop their creativity and imagination through combining dance movement and music.

  • Children engage in team sports and gymnastics to further develop coordination and balance.

  • Activities are split into three parts: Warm-up (e.g., role-play, dance games, brain gym), Main Activity (e.g., obstacle course or gymnastic class), and Cool-down (e.g., yoga, meditation, or mindfulness).

Our exclusive English and literacy program

  • Our literacy program follows and supports children’s natural pace and flow of literacy development across each of the learning levels.

  • We use children’s literature to awaken a love of learning within our students at an early age.

  • We encourage curiosity and creativity in children through engaging literary activities which help develop learning tools inside and outside the classroom.

  • Children learn to apply strategies and skills they learned through meaningful hands-on activities and in multiple contexts.

  • Children give small presentations to the class to improve their self-confidence, self-esteem, and public speaking skills.

  • Our literacy program also includes the targeted development and age-appropriate support of gross and fine motor skills that naturally progress into the development of writing skills. Educators plan activities and experiences that facilitate children’s skill development and readiness and prepare children for a natural and smooth progression into writing.

  • After their initial experiences in mark making that gradually become more focused, children progress into small writing activities. This way, they begin writing the sounds they know – the first step towards writing complete words and phrases.

All of our schools feature one or more second languages

    • Our programs have local-specific modifications to accommodate foreign or local languages in an immersive bilingual or second language format.
    • In our bilingual settings, we encourage our children to develop strong relationships with the target languages.
    • We use hands-on, play-based, and exploratory activities to strengthen their communication skills in the target languages.
    • Children also learn about the target language's culture through hands-on activities, art, and cultural celebration of various festivals.
    • The Hindi Language program introduction equally targets the language's oral, reading, and writing aspects.
    • It is a structured language program introduced to children from the Pathfinders learning level once a week. The emphasis is on building confidence in listening and understanding the language first.
      • Children are sensitized to the language by introducing vocabulary words that are most relevant to them to form simple sentences for conversations. Poems and stories introduced in the Hindi language give the children an opportunity for public speaking and comprehension.
      • Reading and writing the Hindi script through recognizing vowels and consonant letters begin from the Seekers level.

How we integrate science, technology, and coding

      • We develop our students’ hand-eye coordination through fun activities like stacking, construction, block play, or sticking things together to work on spatial awareness and engineering concepts.

      • We help our students understand the functionality of specific tools and materials through simple and fun challenges.

      • We use screenless programming and computer technology to improve literacy and vocabulary.

      • We give our students problem-solving tasks that require teamwork to overcome, teach them how to evaluate situations, and support the development of creative solutions.

Art is a core part of our curriculum

      • Art is a core part of our curriculum. Our artistic activities promote self-expression and help develop confidence, motor skills, and imagination.

      • Every school features an atelier – a creative space where children can experiment and express themselves.

      • Children enjoy activities created by our teachers or, on occasion, by a special guest contributor.

      • We take children on engaging and enjoyable trips to art museums and age-appropriate exhibitions.
